Swansea v Newcastle - Home win £1000 @2.02
I kid you not, what I did in this game, is perhaps the single greatest betting decision I have made since 2012. I like going against a losing side. Newcastle have not been winning so I backed Swansea here for at good odds. Swansea went 1-0 early, brilliant.
1-1? Cisse. For fuck sake, looking at the line ups, he is the only danger Newcastle possess nowadays. Half time I take a shower and have a think about things, I chose to remain calm and carry on watching the stream.
5 minutes into the second half, Wayne Routledge makes it 2-1. Excellent, but at this stage given the emotions I have been through in the past few weeks, I respond a lot calmer to good news, gone are the days of jumping and down. Well I still jump up and down but not for this. Why did I not jump up? My subconscious was telling me something. I knew I was in till 90 minutes as I couldn’t see Swansea breaking through with 2 or 3 more goals.
What happened next was magical.

60 odds minutes on the clock, I decided to cash out for £500 profit. Newcastle equalised 3 minutes later. Unreal decision! Un real timing! Whose going to stop me now!
It stayed 2-2 and that would have been £1000 never to be seen again rather than a handsome profit of £500 win lose or draw. If I had dodged bullets midweek I had a teleported away from a fucking homing missile this time round. Literally the difference between having £0 and £1500, felt like three minutes.
The risk of staying in outweighed the return.

In betting terms, that decision was the equivalent of a defender clearing off the line away from home against your biggest rivals defending a narrow lead in injury time. I simply could not lose after this. The confidence was now at an all time high. All the cocaine in Columbia would not have matched how I felt at full time. Next up Sunday, and all of the action was on this day.
man utd v everton - both to score £1000 @1.78
This bet was all about two moments from Leighton Baines. The first being the penalty he missed on the stroke of half time. Both to score in by half time, no stress whatsoever, it would have been a dream, but this game is rarely that easy. Of course he missed. If I had a tenner on it I am sure he would have blasted it in to the top corner, but I had £1000 on it so what does he do? He sends a feeble shot to De Gea's right poorest penalty he has ever taken. De Gea had produced tougher saves in the pre match warm up. In fact that save was pretty much a warm up for the last ten minutes of the game. De Gea produced a top performance for Utd here.
Baines was playing poorly but after his penalty miss, he stepped up. Given a freekick just outside the centre circle in Utds half, this was clearly constructed on the training pitch, and perfected beautifully in the Theatre of Dreams. Baines passed the ball into a team mate, who then lays it back to him, after a few touches and time on the ball, generously allowed by the Utd players it must be said, Baines then plays an absolute pearler of a cross into Utds box. Utd struggle to handle any cross nowadays but a worldie like this they had no chance. Naysmith storms in round the back of the Utd line, no one tracking his run! BANG! Heads it where? Top fucking corner. 1-1! Poetry in motion.

west Ham v QPR - Home win - £1000 @1.88
Backing against a loser here again, and QPR are pretty reliable losers at the moment. I'll take any odds against QPR away from home, but 1.88 for an in form West Ham side is a gift. West Ham had a corner 3 or 4 minutes in and I was sat there with my finger on the trigger, why waste a goal scoring opportunity I thought? I clicked place bet, and the money matched, Downing took the corner, Onouha connected with the ball. Own goal. That was that. West Ham killed the game in the second half. The force was with me.
I missed Chelsea v Arsenal, I was going to place Chelsea to win at 1.9 for £1000, but the first 20 minutes bored the life out of me and didn’t want to risk being in the markets for a game that was so tedius. It is torture for 90 minutes and you cant change the channel you have to watch it because you have money in it. The game wasn't that bad in the end. I knew Arsenal had no chance of winning. Chelsea seem to have a psychological advantage over Arsenal, but Arsenal simply don't have what it takes to defeat Chelsea at their ground for various reasons. I missed out on a hattrick of winning bets but was very happy with the brace. The timing of this was brilliant given a two week international break loomed.

Man City v Tottenham - Aguero to score - £150 @ 1.94
Seasons past I never usually stake so much so regularly, and I have regularly lost £1000 bets but I feel I have learned a few things each of the times a loss occurred. This was a return to a normality.
In hindsight I really should have staked more on this. It’s so easy to say that when bets come in. But the reality was, the value for Aguero to score against a Tottenham defence that enjoy conceding to big teams was plain to see. The pundits had called this one a mismatch, Aguero vs Younes Kaboul, and Fazio. I really should have put much more on it. Aguero scored 20 minutes in. I went into the 3pms unsatisfied, searching for more profit.
What was worse is Aguero scored 4 goals, which made me feel as though I had missed out. I had been mulling Aguero first goal scorer but wasn't hesitated on how much I should stake given it is an extremely high risk bet. Aguero is the one player you want to back for first goal scorer, but none the less it is a bet for the brave.
I had my eye on Arsenal v Hull because Hull are the kings of both to score right now but I didn’t do it. I instead went searching for where the goals were and found it in the Huddersfield Blackpool game.

Huddersfield v Blackpool - Over 4.5 goals - £430 @ 1.64
This one was a Gillette Soccer Saturday special. I backed this whilst Huddersfield were 3-0 up after 20 odd minutes, Blackpool came back with 2 goals in quick succession just before half time. Nice.
The winning run couldn’t go on forever unfortunately. And it ended with the next bet.

Deportivo v Valencia - Away win - £630 @1.9
I have been watching a lot of Valencia and they have been playing some of the finest football in Europe, they tore apart Athletico Madrid the week before. And they have a future world class left back in Gaya. Paco Alcacer is another brilliant player. But they let me down horribly here. They lost 3-0 and I didn’t get a chance to cash out whatsoever. Thoroughly let down. I didn't beat myself up on this, I had to lose at some stage although I had lost £650, £350 of that was profit. So I looked at it as loosing £300. I am convinced I wouldn’t have been anywhere near this if I'd staked more on Aguero earlier.
Psychologically speaking, it was not much of a challenge to recover and get back into the right frame of mind. Winning big and losing small is the mantra. I would recover in the Man Utd West Brom game.

west Brom v Man Utd - over 2.5 goals - £1000 @1.88
The first goal from Sessegnon was a dream. And put me at ease. If I were a Utd fan I would genuinely be concerned for their season. There are concerns all over the pitch Robin Van Persie is not prolific anymore. Man Utd's centre midfield pairing is new and will need time. The defence speaks for itself. But this is all a wet dream for punters as they cannot stop scoring and conceding. A lot of my big bets will feature Man Utd this season. The play between these two sides was not the best, but the goals here were taken extremely well.
cSKA Moscow v man City - Away win - £250 @ 1.8
A 5pm kick off in a closed stadium in Russia. Aside from Mangala, Man City started their strongest side and went 2-0 up by half time. This bet was cruising, and I was chillin'. Winning can get you complacent, which is what happened here. I took my eye off the ball.
The night before I had a very telling dream. Long story short I was in a house with a very dangerous woman trying to kill me. I managed to outwit this woman and leave her house, she followed me out the house, and had set up various traps outside of her house. I managed to get away from her but even after defeating her and leaving her house. The dangers were still apparent from the traps she had set. The woman represented betting, and the traps when leaving the house represented the fact I can still lose all of my money even after having made the right decisions. The dream was a warning not to get complacent at any time whilst in play.
What did I do whilst City were 2-0 up? I went and did my flipping laundry. I came back to the TV and the score line was 2-1. Now I am paying attention. In truth what I was watching was shocking from Man City, they couldn't keep possession, all they had to do was play simple passes and run the clock down. Experienced players like Zabaleta were playing cross field Hollywood passes and losing the ball. It was truly ridiculous I mean surely these players know better. They were playing like complete wankers in Europe.

The irony is, complacency crept in for City as well as myself, it was as though we were all on the same team. After the Tottenham win and going 2-0 up here, they felt exactly how I did after the Utd bet. Cruising along, then came the iceberg.
Inevitably Kolarov gives away a penalty in the 86th minute. Moscow make it 2-2. I lose £250 which not long ago looked a certain win. Man City are all but out of the Champions League now. And I could have cashed out in the second half and taken the whole profit minus £30. Rage. I couldn't stop thinking about the dream.
Was I mad that Kolarov gave a way a penalty he didn’t need to give, no. Was I mad that the ref gave a penalty that was extremely soft, no. These things happen. I had only myself to blame for complacency. Which was really and truly vexing. But you cannot beat yourself up too much. The only positives were I hadn’t bet big. And could make this up in the 7.45 kick offs. But I was angry.
The 7.45 kick offs came and Roma v Munich was the game I had my eyes on. However I was nowhere near in the right frame of mind as I was still vexed from earlier. I wanted to back both to score, I didn’t, and was glad I didn't. Even though it came in, I would have been pissed off seeing 5 Munich goals go in before the goal I needed came. And even worse I probably would have lost patience and cashed out before Roma scored. Which would have really sent me into a rage.
So many goals were flying in I couldn’t keep up and thought stuff this I am going to leave it till tomorrow. It was the highest scoring Champions League game day and I was a loser.
Anyways still in profit for the week from the big win in the Utd game. My mentality was move on. Next up Liverpool v Real Madrid!
