Sweden v Germany - Brazil to score next @ 2.02
First bet, I come home to find that a plethora of international friendlies are in play this evening. Germany v Argentina easily the pick of the bunch. A slave to my own excitement, I should remain more disciplined. The plan was to commence the betting campaign when the Premier League kicks off. But seeing Lionel Messi on my screen captaining Argentina in a mouth watering international clash changed all that.
Based on nothing at all apart from the fact it was good value. I stick £100 on Messi to score at any time.
My main worry, it being a friendly, is that Messi will not play the whole game. The match kicks off, and my initial worry subsides to the fact that Gemany are controlling possession. And Messi is playing as though he has a bus to catch in half an hour.
Not only did he look uninterested as the first half went on, he looked unfit.
30 Mins - Penalty!
Sosa goes clean through on goal, the keeper catches him. The ref gives a penalty. And sends off the keeper. Up steps my boy!
Most people would think in this given situation there is one certain outcome.
The guy decided to repay my faith in him by taking a penalty that makes Emile Heskey look prolific. Far from his best and very close to his worst. He literally stroked the ball into the keepers path. Shocking penalty. I sigh and hunch back on the couch.
Just before half time Argentina go 1-0 up through an own goal.
I am simply happy to see Messi has not been subbed at this point. Nothing really happens for 6 mins in to the second half, then Bang! Higuain squares to Messi on the edge of the box and Messi slots it past the keeper.
Second bet, I backed Brazil based on their Olympic matches. Brazil tend to go 1-0 up at half time and score a couple more in the second half. The bet was placed at half time. They did just that.
