Lets pick up where I left off in the rollercoaster…
everton vs Wolfsburg - Everton win @2.02 for £500.
Everton scored within the first ten minutes. Even the finest couch cannot compare with the comfort of an early goal in your favour whilst in play. Everton ran out comfortable winners, my friend had Everton -2. It was 1-0 at half time and 3-0 15 minutes into the second half. I hate the term easy money. But this certainly was one of the more stress free bets I’ve placed.
Capital One Cup – Arsenal v Southampton – Over 3.5 goals £420 @1.62
Parma v Roma – Over 2.5 Goals £700 @ 2.0
Just thinking about what happened next wells my eyes with emotion, with 10 minutes left, it was still 1-1. I HATE leaving big bets until the last 5/10 minutes but here I was in the 82nd minute. Cash out for £330 or leave it in and risk losing a the stake. What would you do? Roma were pressing for a winner, Parma had a man sent off but had everyone behind the ball. What do you do? On this occasion…I cashed out… 3 minutes later…market suspended…Roma Score. Till this day. It still hurts.
Theres not much worse in betting, that took a lot out of me I cant lie, I tried to calm down and pass this off. Unfortunately…these things happen. I told myself If I am I ever going to be the Sam Rothstein of football betting I will have to be able to handle and live with situations like this. Woosah
I was in need of a hug, and some love, and my beloved Sevilla surely would open their arms. I stuck the money I had left from the cash out on Sevilla.
Sevilla v Sociedad - Sevilla next goal - £380 @ 1.75
On to the weekend..
Liverpool vs Everton – Both to Score - £800 @ 1.66
Liverpool vs Everton – Lukaku to score - £200 @3.7
Southampton v QPR – Southampton -1 - £590 @2.76

This is another bet I would normally never even dream of placing. But I was in the desperate situation of trying to find reasons to back ridiculous bets. All in the name of chasing my losses. School boy errors again. The logic was simple, QPR are shit. Southampton at home are pretty good. This should at least be a 3-0 and would have been had Schneiderlin taken his chance in the first half, the margins are so ruthlessly thin. I had no doubt if that goes in at 1-0, QPR would have packed their bags and got their coats. It went in 0-0 at half time.
Southampton did ease my concerns mildly, they scored early in the second half. Now the bet I would usually be in for in is either Southampton to win, or Southampton next goal, but betfair’s odds were unnactrative in both those markets I had to chase. At 1-0 I felt a little better. In between 60 to 70 minutes however, it all kicked off! Charlie Austin decides to score an absolute worldie. Which hit me like a hammer. I slumped back on the couch and the feeling of defeat consumed me. I had been streaming this game and due to the lag, more often you don’t actually see the goal, you just see some build up play followed by the team celebrating. Which is what happened two minutes later when Graziano Pelle, totally unaware of how wonderful his goal actually was, made it 2-1. In those two minutes I had died and come back to life. With a new lease of life i came back to my senses, I cashed out immediately, and got out of this market for which I had no right to be in in the fucking first place. My cash out saw me lose only £73.
At this rate I am counting losses.
a brief lease of life
30th September – Pay day! Champions League - PSG V Barcelona – Over 4.5 goals @1.64 for £1000
I love PSG for ever for the goal they scored in the second half to make it 3-1. It was beautiful but more importantly timely, which is something I value so highly. What was beautiful about it was they kept it simple and did what they were supposed do, nothing elaborate or fancy. A pass out to the winger, winger runs to byline and crosses strongly, cross misses striker, in comes Blaise Matuidi with the connection. Bang. I absolutely loved it. I just knew the bet was coming in after this. It came in quicker than expected as Barca went down the other end and Neymar made it 3-2 pretty much straight away. That was just what I needed, but more importantly, I had dodged bullets in the City game. Which would have been potentially more of a bitter pill to swallow than the previous losses. Losing bets whilst making fundamental mistakes is ok because I knew I wasn't in the correct frame of mind and frankly shouldn't have been making half of those bets. Coming to the game with a fresh mind after pay day and then picking a loser is a completely different story and would have shattered all confidence
The PSG game was an exhibition of football. You had Becks in the crowd sat next to Jayz and Beyonce, some of the play from PSG was champagne stuff, an absolute joy to watch. However, what was glaringly obvious was how badly Cavani played. I mean he was truly terrible. Back in the Napoli days Cavani’s presence on the pitch alone would be all the logic you needed to back over 2.5 goals, he would bring the bets in by himself! I was relieved I didn't need another goal in this game. In fact, had I backed over 5.5 goals. I would have used the remainder of my months salary to book a flight to Paris to go and see him Liam Neeson style! He wouldn't have impacted that game any more had his legs been broken!
Ludogrets v Real Madrid - Over 3.5 goals - £1000 @ 2.12
Oh my word it was an wet dream seeing Ludogrets go 1-0 up within ten minutes. I felt like an absolute betting genius at that point. Lord knows I didn’t feel this way at the end of the game! Real were not arssed about this game at all. And were playing as though they were still in the changing rooms all throughout the first half. Ronaldo gets a penalty on 11 minutes, and misses. But even then I am still not worried. Ronaldo gets another pen on 29 mins. Scores. 1-1 half time. I need two more goals.
Key moment, around 60 minutes Javier Hernandez was presented with a tap in after a Real Madrid break. They completely tore ludagrets apart and all the was required from Hernandez was to make contact with the ball in the direction of the goal. What did he do? He fucking made contact alright, the ball ended up going back towards the direction of the fucking cross! It is moments like this you simply don’t need when your heavily staked. So with 64 odd minutes gone I am resigning to losing this bet, Benzema comes on however, and scores at 78 mins. So 12 odd minutes left to get another goal. Real now had Kroos and Rodriguez on the pitch, they created at least 4 chances in this final 12 minutes. Took none, the ghosts of September reared their ugly heads. I cashed out with 5 minutes left. For a £375 loss. Truth be told, being so early in the month and so much football still ahead to play, I lived to bet another day.
